Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi

Transfer to the airport. Welcome by local tour guide and transfer to hotel. Overnight in Hanoi

Day 2: Hanoi city tour (B)

Visit HCMC complex, Temple of Literature. In the afternoon, we suggest taking a leisurely bike around West Lake. In the evening, we take you for an experience that helps you get familiar with the culture of Vietnam. Join our specially tailored Vietnamese food tour through the Old Quarter of Hanoi.  Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 3: Ha Noi - Ha Long (B,L,D)

Leave Hanoi by car/van at 8:00am arriving at the Halong Bay jetty around 12:00pm. We welcome you on board The Indochina Sails ship and set sail through the bay while lunch is being served.

Cruise around the magical bay, where thousands of sculpted limestone islands rise from the waves like dragons’ teeth. The first stop is Titop Island. Enjoy swimming, relaxing on the beach and climbing the steps to the top of the mountain on the island for fantastic views and photo opportunities. Then next stop is Luon cave. There are two options for exploring the cave and surrounding area. One option is to transfer to small bamboo boats rowed by the local people. The second option is to travel by kayak (self-rowed). The kayaking option is $10. per person unless pre-booked, and lasts about 45 minutes.

Day 4: Ha Long - Ha Noi (Brunch)

Early morning, enjoy a Tai Chi lesson on the sundeck with the backdrop being the gorgeous towering limestone islands topped by rainforests. Wave to local fisherman in Junk boats meandering alongside your ship.

Following Tai Chi, we take you by smaller boat to the Surprise Cave, where you walk up about 100 steps to the cave entrance “Surprising cave”. This is one of the most beautiful caves of Halong Bay. The cave is so named because the day before the French came to the scene, they were so impressed they gave it the name because the activities were by their opinion “surprise de la Grotte”. Back to the cruise ship to enjoy breakfast as in a set menu or buffet in the dining room. About 11.00am, the cruise returns to the pier, where you will be met again by our driver who will return you to Hanoi for your last overnight stay in Hanoi. The afternoon and evening is at your leisure.

Day 5: Ha Noi - Lao Cai - Sapa (B)

8.00 am: Depart from Hanoi to Sapa (6 hour driving). Check in hotel in Sapa. This is a long day of driving, however on your arrival you will have a chance to visit Ham Rong Mountain that offers panoramic views and a delightful orchid garden. Overnight at hotel in Sapa

Day 6: Sapa - Ta Van (B,L,D)

The day begins with breakfast at the hotel, before starting our trek through the beautiful Muong Hoa valley in Sapa. After following the road for 2km, we reach Y Linh Ho village home to Black H’mong ethnic people. We continue our walk to Lao Chai village and enjoy beautiful views of terraced rice fields along the way. The guide will prepare a simple picnic style lunch for you. After lunch, we will visit a Catholic church and explore local traditions and customs. In the afternoon, we will reach the heart of the Sapa valley, the Ta Van village home to Dzay ethnic people. Dinner and overnight at a Dzay ethnic house. Overnight at homestay in Ta Van.

Day 7: Ta Van Village - Sapa - Ha Noi - Hue (B)

Breakfast at the homestay, followed by a scenic hike through rice paddies, past bamboo forests to Giang Ta Chai village, home to the Red Dzao ethnic group and then to main road.  Our car will pick you up and transfer back to Hanoi airport. (6 hour drive) Take evening flight to Hue. Overnight in Hue.

Day 8: Hue (B)

Biking tour around Hue: Hue, as the former capital of Vietnam, takes pride in its long history, atmospheric temples, sublime royal palaces and unique cultural traits that can hardly be found elsewhere in Vietnam. Besides exotic elements of the Imperial City, a walled enclosure within the citadel, Hue is extremely well-known for its cultural heritage elements recognized by UNESCO. Today you get to explore this Imperial city by bicycle with our guide visiting the  Imperial Citadel, Thien Mu Pagoda, Tu Duc King Tomb, Overnight in Hue.

Day 9: Hue - Da Nang - Hoi An (B)

Visit Thanh Toan village, biking around in the morning.

In the afternoon we will transfer you to Danang, en route we take the scenic drive and stop at Lang Co Fishing village, top of Hai Van pass for sightseeing and pictures. Following on we visit the Cham Museum before heading to the charming and picturesque city of Hoi An. Another ideal location to use the bicycles provided by the hotel to explore this 16th century old town, beaches and paddy fields.

Day 10: Hoi An (B)

Today is an organized cycling day to explore the area and take advantage of the various activities available.

The biking tour around Hoi An will take in a visit Tra Que vegetable village and the Hoi An old town, with stops for Vietnamese coffee and a visit to the central markets.

Day 11: Da Nang - Hoi An Airport - Nha Trang (B)

Today, we transfer you to Danang for your flight to Nha Trang. Arrive in Nha Trang, free time.

Optional luxurious experiences are available, one such spa treatment with mud bath is highly recommended and available on request. We suggest booking ahead.

Day 12: Nha Trang (B,L)

Today, we wake early and head out on bikes to Cau Da port. Here you will visit the Tri Nguyen Aquarium on Mieu Island . This offers a unique opportunity to see many sea species of the Nha Trang/Khanh Hoa province. From there we continue on to Mun Island as it is the best island for snorkeling. It makes for a great relaxation point and a place where you can see lots of colorful corals, fish and turtles. You will also be able to see caves in which the sea swallows make their nest.

Enjoy lunch at the island while swimming & taking part in water sports on Mot Island. On the way back you will visit a fishing village before going to the shore. Transfer back to your hotel.

Day 13: Nha Trang - Sai Gon by plane (B)

Fly to Saigon. Settle into your hotel before we arrange to take you to see the famous Cu Chi tunnels. The tunnels of Củ Chi are an immense network of connecting tunnels located in the Củ Chi District of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and are part of a much larger network of tunnels that underlie much of the country

Following our visit, we will take you back to Saigon for an overnight stay in which you have the late afternoon and evening at your leisure. You might like to enjoy a leisurely dinner cruise on the river to see the city from this vantage point as it is very popular with our clients.

Day 14: Sai Gon - Cai Be (B)

Half day city tour by walking/ car to Post office, Nguyen Hue street, War Museum then by bike to Cai Lay ,  ride on a beautiful back roads , through amazing fruit orchards ( durian ) , stopping to try some fresh durian , one of the specialities of the region . You will be welcomed by locals with big smiles. Overnight in Cai Be (40km biking)

Day 15: Cai Be - Can Tho (B)

After breakfast, it’s a day of exploring the area on your bicycle by pedaling along the interesting backcountry paths to discover the island. You will take a local ferry to cross the Mekong River to Vinh Long, then you will cycle to Binh Minh. Lunch at a local home has been arranged and in the afternoon you will be transferred by mini bus to Can Tho. Upon checking into the hotel or home stay, whichever you prefer, you will have some time for walking and exploring the must-loved town of Can Tho (40km-60km biking)

Day 16: Can Tho - Sai Gon (B)

Awaken early to the sounds of the Mekong Delta we take a boat ride to visit the well-known floating market which is located on the Hau (lower) river.  The Cai Rang floating market was formed during the Nguyen Dynasty in the 19th century and today it is bearing all the characteristics of the local’s life in the Mekong region. All the goods are transported to the market by boats and traders live on their boats like their mobile houses for generations.
Continue on your boat ride into the narrow shady waterways to see even more the real life of Mekong people. After disembarked, visit a rice mill and rice paper home work-shop, then biking three hours through many charming villages of Can Tho area. Midafternoon heading back to Sai Gon. Overnight in Saigon ( 20km biking )

Day 17: Depart Sai Gon (B)

Enjoy some time at leisure in the city until your transfer to the airport for your departing flight.
