Enjoy its marvellous landscapes and natural sceneries, enjoy the surrounding ethnic villages, discover the Love Market, where local youngsters go to court and be courted.
And the bustling capital, Hanoi is the city of lights. Sometimes called as the Paris of Asia, you can still find this bohème colonial-style essence in its French Quarter. You can find its very pure Asian identity in its Old Quarter… Step yourself in history, tradition and legend in this capital inhabited for more than 1000 years!

Day 1: Hanoi to Lao Cai by train

Today your adventure begins when you are transferred from your hotel to the Hanoi railway station for the Victoria Express or Tulico or Livitrain overnight train to Lao Cai. Relax on this 8½ hour journey through the exotic landscapes of northern Vietnam. The Victoria train is with air-conditioned cabins (2 or 4 berth).

Day 2: Bac Ha & Sapa (BL)

Early this morning arrive at Lao Cai station, where you will meet your guide and you will go with him to a local restaurant to take a tasty hot breakfast. Then take a short and scenic drive to Bac Ha to visit the popular Sunday market, where you will find plenty of locals from the various hill tribes. The Bac Ha market is the most colorful in north Vietnam, with their unique tribe foods, along with special wines made from rice, cassavas, corn plumps, apples, peaches and other fruits. Our next step will be to take a tour of the house of King Hoang A Tuong, a tribal mandarin who ruled this area as a kind of petty king when Vietnam was under the French colonial rule. This royal house-palace was built in the 1920’s by the French colonists, helped by Chinese laborers. Later we will drive through the countryside to arrive at Sapa and then your hotel during late afternoon. Sapa is nestled in a spectacular valley, surrounded by wonderful and ever changing views. Began as a hill station by the French in 1922, the local Hmong and Dao people are the majority here, known for their welcoming culture and distinctive colorful clothing.

Day 3: Sapa (BL)

Today enjoy a full day of sightseeing through the villages of more than 30 ethnic groups living around Sapa. Start with a short trekking (1.6 km) towards the bottom of the Muong Hoa Valley, where you will find the stunning Cat Cat village. Admire the lush scenery as you stroll down seeing green rice terraces and the colorful Hmong houses. Cat Cat is an old village and homeland of the Black H’Mong’ ethnic minority. The village seems time stand still, with the H’Mong’s unique customs and costumes still evident and alive today. The village is full of young women weaving colorful brocades adorned with patterns of local birds and flowers. After that we will be heading off to the Ta Van village, home of the Giay people, a minority ethnic whose people are closer to the Red Delta area ethnics costums. After a break for lunch, climb up to the Ham Rong Mountain to enjoy the panorama view of this town. Visit the orchid gardens filled with delicate and colorful flowers.

Day 4: Sapa to Coc Ly, Lao Cai & Hanoi (BL)

Today begins with a morning drive to the Coc Ly market. Experience the peaceful life of the different ethnic tribes (Flower H’mong, Black Dzao, Tay, and Dzay) as you wander through the colorful marketplace. Your guide helps you meet the locals and learn about their wares. After having lunch at a local restaurant, we will depart to Trung Do village, inhabited by Tay minority people. After visiting the local Catholic Church, get ready for an exhilarating 2-hours boat trip down the Chay River. Explore a majestic landscape of the high Tay Con Linh Mountains, consisting of breathtaking waterfalls, beautiful caves and a bustling life along the riverbanks. Next, drive back to the Lao Cai station to take the night train back to Hanoi.

Day 5: Arrive Hanoi

Arrive at the Hanoi train station early in the morning. Your tour ends today with your transfer to the Hanoi airport or to your hotel.
