Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City - Cai Be / Vinh Long (L)

Leave the bustle and hustle streets of Ho Chi Minh City for Mekong Delta by bus. Upon arrival in Cai Lay district, we start biking for the short journey to Cai Be floating village. Pedal along back roads about 1.5 hours to enjoy the wonderful views.  Stop for short lunch in the local family on the island before continue biking to our home stay. Staying in a typical Vietnamese house, with airy rooms and outdoor kitchen, it makes us enjoy our time with a true taste of Mekong Delta life. The rest of this afternoon is free to bike the local paths surrounding the home stay. Take the rest at the end of the day & overnight at home stay.

Day 2: Cai Be Floating Village - Tra Vinh (B, L)

In the morning, we have a simple breakfast with locals, then transferring by bus to Vinh Long province & take a boat trip to one of the Mekong islands and bike along narrow country paths, easy trails. At this bike time, we have a chance to pass through colorful riverside life with tiny orchards, pedaling across innumerable wooden bridges and pausing to chat with welcoming villagers. It is a narrow canal on a local sampan and reaches the main ferry, traveling like locals across the expensive Co Chien River. The final stretch of the ride is along quite roads to the charming Khmer town of Tra Vinh. Arriving early this afternoon, there is plenty of time to explore side trails. 2nd day’s journey is a great first impression of the ‘Heart of the Mekong’. Take the rest at the end of the day & overnight at hotel.

Day 3: Tra Vinh - Can Tho (B, L)

Breakfast at hotel & prepare for an unique day of riding and sightseeing. Most of locals in this area is Khmer ethnic group. The regional house & culture style is interesting and there are too many Khmer temples to admire en route. The road is peaceful, narrow and very pretty all the way to Can Tho! We also can stop at Ba Om Pond for its magnificent lotus flowers and observe local women having their future predicted in the small temple nearby. En route, visit a local Buddhist Temple, that is also a school, and learn about the life of local & children at school. Arrive late this afternoon in Can Tho, the largest city in the Mekong delta. Take the rest at the end of the day & overnight at hotel.

Day 4: Can Tho - Ho Chi Minh City (B, L)

After waking up in the early morning, we will enjoy the amazing views of floating market to Cai Rang by boat. After breakfast at the hotel, we take a cycle along the banks of an active riverfront. Continue on a narrow paved road to Phong Dien floating market and absorb the sights of endless cottage industries, timber merchants, coconut shredders and small docks loading and unloading rice. The next stretch of the journey follows a narrow lane to explore the hidden backwaters of the Delta and the towns of O Mon or Binh Thuy. Short stop for lunch at a local restaurant before returning to Can Tho, checking out of the hotel, pack again our bike & return to Ho Chi Minh City by bus.

End of our wonderful biking time in HCMC.
